What You Need To Know About Mouthguard Grinding
Mouthguard grinding is also referred to as Bruxism or teeth grinding. Only some people are affected with this condition. Those who have it are usually not aware of it because it generally takes place during the night when the person is asleep. Bruxism occurs when an individual tighten their jaw and grind their teeth while they are asleep. It could happen on men, women, and also children. Most commonly it occurs between the age of 20 - 40 years. The information was given by a dealer of braces who used online advertising and SEO to promote business.
Most researches found out that those who are affected with teeth grinding are always stressed and anxious about their lives. With these factors, it could cause the release of adrenaline and other energy hormones without a possible way to discharge the energy. These people are often those who do not have much diversion to release their stress.
Physical activities such as simple walk in the park, exercises, and aerobics are good ways to address this problem. Having your own pet and socializing with people can also lessen stress levels as well.
To some extremities of this case, people may resort to anti-anxiety medications to help with this condition. A mouthguard is also beneficial for teeth grinding. The slight compactness of a mouthguard combined with a muscle relaxant could help the jaw stay relaxed and have reduced chances of teeth gritting when sleeping. Besides these advantages, the mouthguard for Bruxism prevents the chipping or breaking of the teeth. Along with these preventive steps, here are some ways to reduce the instances of teeth grinding.
* Lips sealed while teeth apart - it is hard to accomplish but with this, your teeth will only touch when you are eating food. Try to maintain the feeling of a relaxed muscle with your jaw dropped.
* Warm bath before bedtime - the warmth of the water cause vasodilation and it facilitates the relaxing of the jaw muscles together with the rest of the body.
* Learn coping skills - there are a lot of means of dealing with stress and you can select from different techniques that will suit you.
* Massage - since it works for the rest of the body, it should work for the jaw as well.
* Give your jaw muscles a break - refrain from eating too much steak and other chewy foods that takes too much out of your jaw.
The bulk of stress is a continuous process from everyday’s job. Always be focused. Using meditation to keep your self-awareness may contribute to the strength to manage everyday anxieties.
orthodontist question!!?
i got my braces off june 19. (around that date) i took the in prints for what i thought was gonna be my retainer. my teeth are perfect now and before i had braces my front teeth were a little pushed out but that is it. today when i went to the orthodontist to get my"retainer" she gave me a mouth guard piece thingy, it kind of looks like this http://islandfightessentials.com/braces-mouthguard-youthstrapless.jpg but mine obvi has the inprints of my teeth which are imprinted on top and bottom. there is no way i can open my mouth or even talk with it since there is not space in between my top teeth and bottom. she told me to wear it for 4 hours during the day and all night. why did she give this "mouth guard" thingy to me .. and what does it do that a retainer cant .
thank you
p.s- i asked all my friends who had braces and even looked online and none ever got it ??
every person is unique.
often we tell our teacher "but mrs smith didn't do it that way" and mrs jones ALWAYS replies "i'm not mrs smith".
your dentition is unique to you. your dentist is unique. his treatment is designed for YOU because of the unique way your teeth are. if the device really bothers you, consult him and find out why yougot this device and what can be done to keep it from causing discomfort.
if in the end you MUST use the hated device, suffer through. straight well working teeth are worth more than those unsightly WHITE fake colored teeth most people adore. brush well, brush often.
best wishes!!
